Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com Dupieux’s latest will either annoy or charm you depending on how much you appreciate being led around by the nose by a filmmaker and a cast of characters who seem pretty committed to jerking you around. Rated: 3/4 Apr 5, 2024 Full Review Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Elisabeth Vincentelli New York Times Dupieux’s fans will be happy to know that his surreal humor is gloriously intact, while newcomers might find in this movie a gateway into one of contemporary cinema’s most idiosyncratic universes. Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Peter Bradshaw Guardian Yannick doesn’t try blurring the lines between reality and performance in any Pirandellian way. The comedy is simpler than that. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2024 Full Review Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Martin Kudlac ScreenAnarchy Another comic treat ... acts as a cinematic revival of the once-dominant French theatre of the absurd ... channeled through a lens of folk comedy ... offering a satire attuned to the nuances of today's polarized society and radicalized individuals. May 23, 2024 Full Review Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment Yannick begins as a comedy of manners, only to escalate into something with a tinge of darkness lurking beneath what sits as a farce about actors and theater. Rated: 8/10 Apr 18, 2024 Full Review Yannick | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Andy Crump Paste Magazine Yannick finds Dupieux looking unexpectedly inward and demonstrating a vulnerability that’s absent elsewhere in his body of work — but not at the expense of either his tongue-firmly-in-cheek outlook, or his predilection for self-destruction. Oleksii V again simple sight of the art inside itself with realistic absurd or unrealistic truth Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Petros T Armed with a brief runtime, snappy pacing, an amusing premise, some good acting (especially by Raphaël Quenard and Pio Marmaï) and good humour, "Yannick" is pleasant, occasionally hilarious, rather ridiculous and a breeze to sit through. The restricted setting is handled well even if it's hard to believe that the entire play is run by the three actors without any crew people whatsoever, and the meta commentary on art is interesting even if it doesn't go particularly deep and doesn't end in much. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Martin R Hilariously unsettling, a lot works thanks to Quenard's performance. What will leave you scratching your head though is why it ends so quickly while it feels like there was much more to explore. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Audience Member I guess I can’t appreciate it, or it is indeed boring. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/24 Full Review Antonio K A very bravely told story, A story full of humor, satire, social criticism, and social drama. But mostly it is a story about human life and what we can do with it. It is up to us whether we will be mere spectators or participants in it. Amazing leading actor, with great use of language and very intelligent humor. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Juanjo C Strange and interesting idea that could have become a nice movie... I liked Rubber disliked Manbibles and I'm not looking forward to watch any other film by QD.... Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
