The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas dating roadie half his age after split from wife (2024)

THEY sang about only living once and it seems The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has taken that to heart.

The rocker, 41, has split from his wife of 15 years Juliet Joslin and moved on with one of the band’s roadies, Kaya — who is half his age.

17

Insiders say the pair met during one of the group’s US tours and grew closer after Julian ended his marriage to Juliet.

My exclusive pic shows the new couple at an event in Holywood, Northern Ireland.

A source said: “Julian split from Juliet about a year ago but has been determined to keep it private but now he’s moved on he can’t really pretend it hasn’t happened any more.

“Him and Kaya have been getting really close for months and now they’re pretty inseparable.

17

“He even takes her backstage with him at huge events such as gigs at the Barclays Center in New York.

“If the band goes somewhere for a tour or anything else, Kaya goes with him. His dad left his mum and got with a much younger girlfriend too.”

It comes as the American band are battling Dua Lipa for the top spot in the album charts with their sixth record, The New Abnormal.

And it really is a close race to the top, with fewer than 250 copies separating the band and Dua’s Future Nostalgia, which is hanging on to No1 by a thread.

17

Julian married Juliet, who was the band’s assistant manager, in 2005 and they have two sons, Cal and Zephyr.

The pair kept their split amicable and divorced quietly last year.

Since going public with his new girlfriend Julian has ensured they are both enjoying all the perks of a rock ’n’ roll lifestyle.

They were pictured rubbing shoulders with Spanish rock band Hinds at the Culloden Estate and Spa, in Holywood, Northern Ireland.

17

And he took her to an exclusive bash at the American Museum Of Natural History where they posed in a photo booth.

A spokeswoman for Julian said last night: “With love and respect, Julian and Juliet chose to end their marriage over a year ago. They are happily raising their boys together.

“Out of respect for his family, he will not be discussing this aspect of his personal life any further.”

Nicole's getting her head down

NICOLE Scherzinger has revealed her topsy-turvy daily routine.

The Pussycat Dolls singer demonstrated how she does the splits upside down.

17

17

And to help her meditate, she rubs the rim of a “singing bowl” to produce a high note.

The X Factor judge showed how she starts the day on her band’s Instagram stories.

She has coffee or tea in a mug which says “wake, pray and slay” followed by a breakfast of peanut butter and jam on toast.

Nicole bopped in her LA home to Lauren Daigle’s Look Up Child and did some impressive stretching.

With those flexible moves, her boyfriend Thom Evans is clearly a lucky man.

CHEAP Cuts and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz said of his new song Check Your Phone: “It’s as if we all heard Baz Lurhmann’s Sunscreen in the Nineties and ignored every bit of advice in that song.”

Jenny's hearty frock

JENNIFER Lopez was spreading the love around on social media after she dressed up as a big heart.

The singer slipped into the fluffy outfit, then told her followers on Instagram: “On Wednesdays, we wear pink. Sending you all love.”

17

Jenny From The Block is certainly feeling emotional right now.

She is reportedly ready to tie the knot with fiancé Alex Rodriguez as soon as the virus restrictions are dropped.

A source told US Weekly: “The wedding was all planned out and paid for. Obviously they had to postpone it due to coronavirus but J-Lo wants to marry A-Rod shortly after things go back to normal.”

Perhaps she’ll wear a white heart for that.

Sam on trackie for hit

FOR those who were looking forward to the Olympic Games this summer, Sam Smith has you covered.

The singer’s latest video for I’m Ready with Demi Lovato has an athletic theme.

17

17

17

A teaser of the vid shows the pair wearing white tracksuits with medals around their necks and people competing in wrestling, sprint and diving.

The single, out tomorrow, is a track from Sam’s upcoming album, which was called To Die For.

The singer announced this week that it would be renamed and the release date pushed back in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

My exclusive pictures from the I’m Ready video show just how spectacular it is, with Sam wearing what looks like a Victorian dress and outrageous hat while flanked by models and drag queens.

I’d expect nothing less.

Olly backs chari-tee

OLLY Murs, Nick Grimshaw and Chloe Sims are the latest celebs to back fashion brand notjust and its new fundraising appeal.

The Manchester-based company has created a range of unisex T-shirts with the slogan “Isolate. Just Do It” emblazoned on the front.

17

Just days after the launch, notjust has already raised almost £10,000 from sales of the T-shirt, with £5 from each purchase going directly to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

Former X Factor star Olly shared a snap of him and his girlfriend, bodybuilder Amelia Tank, wearing the design and told his three million Instagram followers: “Got me and the missus one of these each – get involved.”

Seeing as it’s for such a good cause, count me in.

Becky's destined for top of the Hill

SHE’S worked with huge artists including Little Mix, Sigala and Jax Jones – and now rising British star Becky Hill is releasing a new single with Tiesto.

The singer-songwriter drops Nothing Really Matters with the Dutch DJ tomorrow, after his team asked her to write for him.

17

And the song is more fitting than anyone could have ever expected.

In an exclusive chat, Becky said: “I wrote four songs for Tiesto during a writing camp last year.

“I like to have a concept at the start of sessions but we didn’t have anything particular in mind. Then we started writing about the world ending.

“It was all written and done last summer but it feels really fitting with the situation we’re in now.”

17

Since going into lockdown Becky’s had to put her sold-out summer tour on ice, plus her stint opening for The Script.

But having time alone is giving her plenty of time to work on her debut studio album and start drawing up a list of her goals for the next 12 months.

She said: “I am looking ahead. We don’t have a release date for my album but I would like it to come out next year.

“My dream is to have a big album, a big tour and then do loads of festivals. I want to make it on to the Glastonbury line-up next year. I’d love to make that happen.”

I have no doubts she will.

Raye is sacks on legs

RAYE took recycling to a new level in her latest magazine photoshoot.

The Tequila singer wore shopping bags as dresses, including one from Ikea and these black bin liners, for Hunger’s Future issue.

17

She told the publication, which is on sale and can be downloaded for free at hungertv.com, all about her love life – which is quiet at the moment, as she is single.

Raye said: “I always have some sort of emotional drama or heartache or some b******s that I’m dealing with.

“I think I’d be a good girlfriend. I’m earning money, I’m working hard, I’d look good on your arm.

“Right now I’m so single that it just hurts my core.”

17

On texting her exes, she admitted: “This is the worst part about it – it doesn’t matter if I’m drunk or not.”

The Future Issue of Hunger magazine goes on sale today on global newsstands and “whilst in isolation, the issue can be downloaded for free from today at https://www.hungertv.com/editorial/hunger-digital-download

Yungblud moves things forward

YUNGBLUD will release new single Weird next Wednesday, earlier than scheduled.

He told fans on The Yungblud Show on YouTube today: “This song is about a weird time when I couldn’t understand the world.

17

"I thought this could not be more of a right time to put it out.

"So I moved it forward.”

Noel hates PC stuff

NOEL Gallagher is a proper old-school legend.

The Oasis rocker says he struggled with Google and social media and has binned the latter after too many “internet spats”.

17

He’s more like his brother Liam than I think he’d like to admit.

Noel said: “I could not get on Google. I was active on social media for about a year and then it got boring.

"I was like, ‘What am I f***ing doing?’ I was getting into internet spats. Life is too short. The time people devote to it . . . It is a load of s**t.”

He’s also been rock’n’roll when it comes to isolation.
