Valentine’s Day is a holiday I like to dress up for! I love all the pinks, reds, and hearts! However, I live in Ohio so that means it’s pretty darn cold for Valentine’s Day. So this year I designed a headband I can wear out and still feel festive!
Now this crochet heart headband was designed with Valentine’s day in mind, but let’s be honest- hearts are in fashion all year long 😉

Materials
Size 4 worsted weight yarn: Hobby Lobby I Love this Yarn
- Main Color & Accent Color (approx. 100 yards in main, 20 yards in accent)
Stitch Key (US Terms)
CH- Chain
SC- Single Crochet
HDC- Half Double Crochet
DC- Double Crochet
Special Stitches:
BPDC- Back Post Double Crochet
CL- Cluster: Double Crochet 3 Together within same stitch.
HCL- Heart Cluster: Double Crochet 3 Together within same stitch, Ch 2, Double Crochet 3 Together within same stitch, Ch 2.

Gauge
Worked over Rows 1-4 of the pattern.
7 DC X 4 ROWS = 2 X 2 inches
Finished Size: 20.5 inches long (laid flat no stretching) 3.5 inches wide.
Crochet Heart Headband Pattern
Notes:
This headband is worked flat in a rectangle then sewn together at the end.
The pattern is written for adult size heads. Fits 20-23 inches.
Beginning chains do not count as a stitch
Hearts Headband Pattern
Ch 75
Row 1: DC in 3rd Ch from hook. DC in each ch across. Ch 2 , turn work. (73 DC)
Row 2: DC in first st, *BPDC in next st, DC in next st* Repeat across until end. Ch 1, turn work. (37 DC, 36 BPDC)

Row 3: SC in each st across. Ch 1, turn work. (73 SC)
Row 4: SC in each st across.Attach accent color-Ch 2, turn work. (73 SC)
Row 5: CL in first st, Ch 2, *skip 5 sts, HCL in next st.* Repeat until last 6 sts. Skip 5 sts, CL in last st.Attach main color, Ch 1, turn work. (2 CL, 11 HCL)
Row 6: SC in top of first CL. Ch 1, *1 HDC in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th skipped sts from the previous row, working around the ‘Ch 2’. Ch 2, skip next CL, 1 SC in next ‘Ch 2’ space, Ch 2, skip next cl.* Repeat until last Ch 2 space. 1 HDC in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th skipped sts from the previous row, working around the ‘Ch 2’, Ch 1, SC in top of last CL. Ch 1, turn work. (35 SC, 36 HDC)
Row 7: SC in first st, SC in Ch 1 space, *SC in next 3 sts, SC in “Ch 2” space, SC in next st, SC in “Ch 2” space.* Repeat across until Ch 1 space. SC in Ch 1 space, SC in last st. Ch 1, turn work. (73 SC)
Row 8: SC in each st across. Ch 2, turn work. (73 SC)
Row 9: DC in each st across. Ch 2, turn work. (73 DC)
Row 10: DC in first st, *BPDC in next st, DC in next st* Repeat across until last 2 sts. DC in last 2 sts. (37 DC, 36 BPDC) Tie off, leaving a long tail.
Sewing headband closed
Fold your headband in half so the two short ends are lined up like shown above.
Using your yarn needle and the long tail you left, line up the stitches and weave your tail through each stitch across. Be sure to go through both sides of the headband to securely attach the ends.
Weave in any and all loose ends you may have & you are finished!!
