Like all good RPGs that have come before it, Baldur's Gate 3 is packed with tons of armor to keep the party protected no matter what foe they face. Many of these armors offer great boosts to a character's AC and great enchantments that give some extra help when in battle. But while light armor doesn't offer the high ACs of heavy armor, that doesn't mean there aren't some great options out there for the party to find.

Almost all classes in Baldur's Gate 3 are proficient in light armor, with the exceptions being sorcerers, wizards, and monks, who have their own cool clothing pieces to choose from. Because it needs to cover such a wide array of class abilities, light armor found in BG3 ranges from specifically focusing on one class to broadly protecting any character from harm. From stealth and spells to damage resistance and initiative rolls, here are the best light armors in BG3.

10 Padded Armor +2 - 13 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased In Acts 1 & 2 From Various Merchants

The Padded Armour +2 is a solid light armor that will work well with any class. This rare armor is available from merchants in BG3'sfirst two acts while the party is between levels five and eight. Given how many merchants will keep this armor in stock, the Padded Armour is a quick and easy way to armor up the squishier members of the party before better options come along.

This rare armor is a great early to mid-game choice with a decent 13 AC and is best suited for those who might need to get up close with enemies. Thanks to its Superior Padding feature, the wearer of the Padded Armour +2 will take two fewer points of bludgeoning damage. There is even a +1 version sold during levels two through four that reduces bludgeoning damage by one for very early-game parties.

9 Armor Of The Sporekeeper - 13 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased Or Looted In Act 3 From Mystic Carrion

The Armour of the Sporekeeper is a niche armor that can be picked up in Act 3 from the Mummy Lord Mystic Carrion. Gamerpillar shows in their video how to find Mystic Carrion as well as how to complete the quest "Find Mystic Carrion's Servant."There are two ways to obtain this very rare armor: purchasing it from the undead merchant or looting it from the mummy's body at the end of his questline.

While wearing this armor, the character will gain a plus one bonus to their spell save DC when dealing necrotic damage and an extra one point of necrotic damage each time. Although the Armour of the Sporekeeper does have some usefulness to other characters who deal necrotic damage, it is designed primarily with Circle of Spores druids in mind. Spore Druids wearing this armor spread additional spores that deal poison damage, grant haste, and confuse enemies while the wearer is affected by Symbiotic Entity.

8 Shadeclinger Armour - 12 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased In Act 2 From Quartermaster Talli

As the name might suggest, the Shadeclinger Armour is perfect for party members who might want to remain unseen like rogues. Available to buy immediately in Act 2 from the Harper's Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn, this armor works very well with the Shadow-Cursed Lands. With an AC of 12, the Shadeclinger Armour gives the wearer a +1 boost to Stealth, which is already very useful in such a dangerous location.

But the real benefit of this armor comes from its main Shadeclinger feature and an odd bug associated with it. While obscured, the wearer has advantage on all saving throws, which is brilliant against AOE attacks. However, if the armor is taken off while still obscured, the clinging shadows buff remains, meaning that the entire party can gain advantage until the next long rest.

7 Studded Leather Armour +2 - 14 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased In Acts 2 & 3 From Various Merchants

Just like the Padded Armour, the Studded Leather Armour +2 is sold by various merchants throughout Baldur's Gate 3 once the party is level nine or higher. This unassuming armor is one of three pieces with the highest light armor AC in the game, with an AC of 14 plus the character's Dexterity modifier. As it's much more readily available than the other two AC 14 light armors, the Studded Leather Armour +2 is a solid early Act 3 choice.

This rare armor has two features that make it worth picking up beyond its AC boost. The first is its Superior Padding which reduces all bludgeoning damage to the wearer by one. Finally, this armor has the Ambusher feature that boosts the wearer's initiative by one, which pairs well with the Hellrider Longbow or the Stalker Gloves that also boost initiative rolls.

6 Armour Of Landfall - 13 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased In Act 3 From Lorroakan's Projection Or Rolan

Another druid specific armor to keep an eye out for is the Armour of Landfall . While its +1 bonus to spell save DCs is good for any spellcasting class, just like the Armour of the Sporekeeper, this very rare light armor was designed with a specific druid subclass in mind. In the case of the Armour of Landfall, it is the Circle of the Land druids who are more specialized in spellcasting.

While wearing this armor, the character will be able to cast Plant Growth at level three once per short rest, which is excellent for controlling an area in battle. When starting their turn on plant growth or vines, the wearer will be healed for 1d4 hit points. Then, to finish things off, the Armour of Landfall also grants the wearer an advantage on Constitution saving throws to help maintain concentration on spells.

5 Armour Of Moonbasking - 11 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can Be Purchased In Act 3 From Voiceless Penitent Bareki

The last of the three very rare druid-focused light armours is the Armour of Moonbasking . As the name suggests, it is geared more towards Circle of the Moon druids, although one of its features is useful for any class who wants to wear it. Lunar Bestial Fortitude gives the wearer a plus two bonus to their AC and gives advantage to saving throws against spells. Best of all, for any druid wearers, this effect continues even in Wild Shape.

With an AC of 11, this armor has one of the lowest ACs in the game but more than makes up for it for the boost to Wild Shape. Druids wearing this armor will gain 22 temporary hit points when entering Wild Shape, and while they remain, all incoming damage is reduced by one. The Armour of Moonbasking is sold by Voiceless Penitent Bareki in the Undercity Ruins, and in their video, rAAZ shows how to locate this easy-to-miss merchant.

One of the best light armors can be gained early in Act 1 and will often be among the first rare armors the party gains access to. The Spidersilk Armour is worn by Minthara, who can be found in Act 1 in the Shattered Sanctum, planning an attack on the Emerald Grove. The Spidersilk Armour can be gained by either killing her or knocking her out if planning to recruit Mintharain Baldur's Gate 3.

Despite being worn by the drow paladin, this armor is great for rogues early on before being passed on to spellcasters. While wearing the Spidersilk Armour, the character will gain a plus one bonus to Stealth Checks. But its best feature is that it grants the wearer advantage on Constitution saving throws, which are great against enemy attacks, and crucial for maintaining concentration on spells.

3 Penumbral Armour - 12 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

The Penumbral Armour is a must-have for any stealth-based party member, as it boasts the best stealth boosts found on any item in BG3. With the feature Stealthier, the wearer will gain a brilliant plus three to Stealth checks while obscured, which can lead to some insane rolls with high Dexterity characters. This more than makes up for the low 12 AC and is perfect for exploring the Shadow-Cursed Lands of Act 2.

The Penumbral Armour is tucked away in an abandoned house near the Last Light Inn, but in their video, rAAZ shows how to find this awesome armor. Picking the armor up as soon as the party reaches the area is advised to make the most out of the Penumbral Armour's stealth bonus. Multiclass builds such as rogue/ranger can really benefit from this outstanding rare light armor.

2 Bhaalist Armour - 14 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

The Bhaalist Armour is a fantastic armor that is sold by Echo of Abazigal after the player character becomes an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal. This isn't something many will do during a good playthrough, but this armor is a must for any evil/morally gray playthrough. With a decent AC of 14 for light armor, this armor's features are where it really shines.

To start with, the Bhaalist Armour gives a plus two boost to initiative rolls, which pairs wonderfully with the Assassin rogue subclass or any other that relies on going early in the initiative order. But the best feature has to be the creepily named Aura of Murder, which makes enemies within two meters/seven feet become vulnerable to piercing damage. Wearing the Bhaalist Armour while wielding weapons such as Bloodthirst or Ambusher will have some brilliant results with massive damage.

1 Elegant Studded Leather - 14 AC Plus Dexterity Modifier

Can be Looted In Act 3 From High-Security Vault Nine

Finally, there is the Elegant Studded Leather, a very rare light armor that can be looted from High-Security Vault Nine in Baldur's Gate's Counting House. The vault can be opened with a key after returning the gold stolen by Minsc to Rakath or picking his pocket for it. This armor has three great features that work especially well with rogues, the first of which is advantage on Stealth checks.

The second feature is a +2 bonus to initiative rolls, useful for any class, particularly Assassin rogues in BG3. However, the third feature makes the Elegant Studded Leather the best light armor to find in Baldur's Gate 3, which is "Shield." Once per short rest, the wearer can cast shield at first level as a reaction, which increases their AC by five until the start of their next turn. Shield is a useful spell for melee classes and is often worth a dip into another class or taking a Magic Initiate feat.
